You're Leaving Money on the Table: Why Every Wedding Planner Should be Building an Email List
Wedding planners work very hard to serve their clients. From handling a nervous bride to finding a last minute photographer to resolving issues with wilted flowers - you name it - and the wedding planner is there to fix it.
Along with all of the work you put in to serve your clients another aspect of your business is to market it to new clients. That is a huge job in and of itself. What many wedding planners don't know when they are marketing their business is that they are frequently leaving money on the table. A LOT of money.
This is because most have not yet realize the importance of building an email list. In fact, many business owners will tell you that building a highly targeted e-mail list is the one of the most effective business building tools and a vital asset.
So what is an email (aka opt-in) list anyway? Basically, it is a list of email addresses of people who have agreed to obtain any kind of information from online businesses like you. The term “opt in” means that you have their permission to send to them whatever newsletters, brochures, or promotions that you have in your online business.
It is extremely important that you have their permission first before you send them information because unsolicited emails will be regarded as spam, and spamming is an illegal activity on the Net.
Because of the feasibility of building an email list, most online entrepreneurs consider it as the most treasured asset. They need this list in order to get the consumer’s attention and sustain interest.
By creating an email list, you will be able to maintain solid contact with your previous clients at the same time boost your sales because of the fact that you have a sure target market always ready to purchase services and items from you.
As a wedding planner you might wonder - what good is a list to me? What can I possibly use it for after the wedding is over? Here's where the real magic happens. With your list, you can now market and sell things like thank you cards, name changing services or tips, request referrals, info products on topics such as how to preserve their wedding gown, setting up a new home, or even market other party planning services you may offer for baby showers, christenings, etc.
